In the case of a device designed as a multiple-armed capstan for the collection and common transport of a plurality of wire ends coming from a conveying line, the arm receiving the wire coil has a foldable carrier at its free end. This carrier is advantageously arranged on a bar longitudinally displaceable inside the arm and capable of swivelling transversely to the longitudinal axis of the bar and in the swung-up position projects through a slot-like aperture arranged on the upper side of the arm.
