Sealing ring for flange seals

The invention relates to a sealing ring for flange seals, to be precise in particular for flange seals having enamelled sealing surfaces. The sealing ring has a spiral ring wound from a resilient metal band of angled-off or arcuate profile. At least some of the spiral turns have intermediate layers of a deformable non-metallic material, such as polytetrafluoroethylene and/or glass ceramic. On the sealing surface side, ring discs which consist of a material having a high coefficient of surface friction are placed on the spiral ring. The assembly comprising spiral ring and sealing disc is surrounded on the sealing surface side and at least towards the flange inner side by a sheathing of polytetrafluoroethylene.
