In a method for fastening plates to sheets, sections or tubes as well as cast and forged parts of aluminium, the object is to ensure that the joined parts have adequate strength and corrosion resistance, the joining time is very short and the joint can be loaded immediately. This object is achieved in that the plates are provided with at least one hole into which in each case an aluminium stud, consisting of stud head, press shank and centring shank, is inserted and is connected according to the stud welding principle to the sheet or section or tube as well as cast or forged part of aluminium. A device according to the said method consists of a stud head (5), which is provided with a predetermined breaking point (9) and a shank (11) which is designed for accommodating in a welding device and for the transfer of the welding current, of a press shank (6), a centring shank (7) and an ignition tip (8), the centring shank (7), the press shank (6), the angle of the press shank and the hole diameter of the plate-shaped part (2) being in direct dependent relationship. <IMAGE>
