A method and a circuit arrangement which serve for the storage and retrieval of a plurality of types of information on a single track of a magnetic recording medium are specified. In particular, suitable pulse sequence frequencies are specified for the time-code basic clock rate and the control-track pulses, which are in an integral relationship with each other and therefore influence each other only little by crosstalk. In this case, editing marks and parity and check bits may also be included in a suitable way in the time-code pulse train. Furthermore, the circuit arrangement may be substantially the same for carrying out two colour television standards.
