The invention relates to a press for the production of many different types of products in limited number. This press possesses a multiplicity of lower mould halves, which are fastened on a platen, and a multiplicity of upper mould halves, each of which is arranged on an upper part of the press so as to lie opposite a lower press half. Each upper press half is fixed on the upper part of the press by means of a mould clamping device and an adaptor plate and is pretensioned upwardly by means of spiral springs, so that a predetermined gap is produced between each pair of upper and lower mould halves when the upper part of the press is moved downwards towards the bottom dead point of the press. An actuating plate can be pushed in between the upper part of the press and each adaptor plate, so that the upper mould half then actuated is transferred into the position for contacting the associated lower mould half.
