PURPOSE:To prevent bending of the spring of a magnetic head for a magnetic head holding mechanism in a double-sided floppy disk device, by engaging a hook with a shelf part at the position where a gimbalspring forms a flat surface when it is unloaded. CONSTITUTION:When a bail moves to load a magnetic head, a carrier 52 has revolutions in accordance with the movement of the bail. The magnetic head 51 is attached to the carrier 52 with its spring 59 attached to the carrier 52 with an inclination of degrees. Thus the rubbing face 56 of a magnetic converter assembly 55 touches in parallel and close to a medium 19. When the bail moves more, the tip of the carrier 52 hits a frame 61. Thus the carrier 52 is held at a prescribed position. In this case, the assembly 19 has a touch to the medium 19, and therefore a shelf part 58 is detached from a hook 57 attached to the carrier 52. Thus the head 51 is loaded. In such a way, the spring of the head 51 is not bent when the head 51 is changed to a loaded state from an unloaded state. Therefore the face 56 of the assembly 55 touches in parallel to the medium 19, and the corner part of the assembly 55 never touches the medium face. Thus the medium 19 is never damaged. |
