PRODUCING DEVICE OF MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM

PURPOSE:To produce a magnetic recording medium of high coercive force, by spraying laterally a reactive gas to the evaporating path of a ferromagnetic metal and then utilizing effectively the high coercive force function of the reactive gas. CONSTITUTION:A back roller 5 is provided between a feed roller 2 and a take- up roller 4 to cool the material which is vapor-deposited to a substrate 3 of a belt-shaped plastic film, etc. A ferromagnetic metal 8 is stored in an evaporating device 7, and a flat plate type mask 6 is set under the roller 5 to control the incident angle of the vapor of the metal 8 to the substrate 3. An outlet of a nozzle 9 which guides the reactive gas is positioned between the roller 5 and the device 7. Thus it is possible to spray the reactive gas to the evaporating path of the metal 8 from the lateral direction. The device 7 is heated to evaporate the metal 8, and only the vapor that has an incident angle larger than the prescribed value which is regulated by the position of a mask 6 is vapor-deposited obliquely to the traveling substrate 3 while spraying the reactive gas to the evaporating path of the metal 8 through the nozzle 7.
