PURPOSE:To produce a roof for a vehicle body separately from the vehicle body and easily produce a roof structure, by a method wherein a roof panel, a surfacing film and a foamed material are integrated with each other in a sandwich construction, and the integrated body is fitted to a vehicle body. CONSTITUTION:The foamed material 3 is produced by pouring a foamable liquid into the surfacing film 4 held in a finished shape, whereby the roof panel 2, the film 4 and the foamed material 3 are integrated with each other in the sandwich construction. To fit the roof structure 1 to the vehicle body, an adhesive 18 is preliminarily applied to upper surfaces of a front roof rail 14, a rear roof rail 15 and the like, and the lower surfaces of peripheral parts of the roof panel 2 extending beyond the foamed material 3 and the film 4 are pressed against the surfaces coated with the adhesive 18, thereby fitting the roof panel 2 to the vehicle body. Accordingly, the roof structure for the vehicle body can be easily produced, and can be fitted to the vehicle body with favorable workability because it is not necessary to bring the structure into the interior of the vehicle. |
