In a chimney having a triangular or polygonal outer shell, the inner opening of which has a cross-section corresponding to this outer shell, through which a circular chimney pipe passes, an additional heat-insulation is provided in the corner regions (6) resulting between the chimney pipe and the inner cross-section of the outer shell. This heat insulation consists essentially of insulating wedges (3) which are inserted into these corner regions (6). The invention is employed in normal chimneys and in prefabricated chimneys. <IMAGE>
