A pig for pipelines is revealed which has a cylindrical body of dimensionally stable, elastic material with an outside diameter corresponding to the inside diameter of the pipeline, so that it fits tightly but displaceably into the pipeline. Annular beads serving as sealing and guide elements are conveniently provided at least close to its ends on the circumferential surface of the cylindrical body. The annular beads are made in one piece with the body. The body is preferably made of chemical-resistant flexible plastic. A metallic body such as a magnet is embedded in the pig for location purposes.
