An approximately rectangular insulating body (3) having at least a free space (4) open towards the ceiling (1) is mounted on a wall or ceiling (1) of the building by means of a screw (2) or the like. Located in this free space (4) are the terminals (5) for an, e.g. three-wire embedded cable (6) whose free ends (6a) are permanently connected to the terminals (5). In this arrangement, the terminals (5) continue in the interior of the insulating body (3) in the direction towards one of its end walls (3a), and terminate in the form of socket-contacts (5a) in central recesses at a slight distance (a) in front of the end wall (3a) concerned. The mating connectors (7) of a lamp cable (9) are now a permanently integrated component of a housing (8) which can be pushed from outside on to the insulating body (3) in the direction of the connectors (7) and contacts (5a), the lamp or luminaire, respectively not represented in each case, being connected to or in this housing (8), and having their connecting cable (9) led to the connectors (7). <IMAGE>
