PURPOSE:To transfer a long size material at a high speed without causing the noise of a chock in a gripper feeder which supplies the long size material to a press machine or the like, by controlling movement of this clamp through a linear motor. CONSTITUTION:A slider part 10 used for the primary side or secondary side of a linear motor is integrally formed to a moving clamp part 8 of a gripper feeder. A scale part 11 used as the secondary or primary side of the linear motor is arranged on a bed 1 placed at a face-to-face position to said slider part 10, and two sets of magnetic pole parts mounted with excitation coils MC1, MC2 are placed at a face-to-face position to the scale part 11, further the both magnetic pole parts are connected by a permanent magnet PM. A phase of exciting currents applied to said excitation coils MC1, MC2 is shifted to form the moving magnetic field, and magnetic fluxes of this moving magnetic field and the magnet PM are added or cancelled to move the slider part 10 to the direction of arrow heads CD while directly guiding by a guide bar 6 and the slider part is held to transfer a long size material 2 synchronously with a press machine by the use of a movable clamping part 8 at the stage of moving to the direction C or D. |
