PURPOSE:To enlarge the inner volume of a sealing plate for increasing a filling up quantity of a negative electrode active material while checking generation of a local cell at the end of a sealing plate caused by alkaline electrolyte by coating an opening cutting part of the sealing plate with a metal easy to be amalgamated. CONSTITUTION:Centering around an opening cutting part 10 of a sealing plate 1 and excepting the inner part making contact with the negative electrode active material and the outer part making contact with the terminal of any appliance using a battery, a part of the surface is provided with a coating layer of a metal 11 easy to be amalgamated similar to the inside of the sealing plate. The coating metal 11 thereby is either one of gold, silver, copper, tin and zinc which are possible to be easily electrically or nonelectrolytically plated, whereby a highly reliable plated layer can be obtained by making said plating to be thick not less than 10mum. Except the plating method, it is also applicable to dip the cutting part 10 of the sealing plate into a metal bath with the conparatively low melting point. |
