This invention consists of a method for producing a lifting sling which consists of a core 2 of parallel threads of synthetic fibre material which core is surrounded by a protective sheath 3 of fibre weave. In order for one to be able to determine the degree of wear on the sheath 3, one must first colour through the fibre weave to half the width double-folded lengthwise and thereafter include the double-folded fibre weave around the thread core 2.
