PURPOSE:To improve the bending characteristics of a multicored optical fiber core, by filling a powder buffer between a stranded layer of optical fiber elements surrounding a tension member and a plastic coated layer at the outermost circumference in order to improve the sliding properties between the fiber elements and the buffer. CONSTITUTION:Plural optical fiber elements 14 containing silicone coated layers 20 are stranded around a tension member 12 made of steel. A plastic coated layer 18 is formed at the outermost circumference, and a power 16 of calcium carbonate, etc. is filled as a buffer between a stranded layer of the elements 14 and the layer 18. As a result, the sliding properties can be improved between the elements 14 and the powder buffer 16. This improves the bending characteristics of an optical fiber and reduces the extension strain of the optical fiber elements. Thus the lifetime is increased for an optical cable. |
