PURPOSE:To peform input operations for various sentence forms in a high speed, by providing a level designating means, by which Kana (Japanese syllabary)-Kanji (Chinese character) conversion is performed in levels suitable for sentence forms of sentence for education, sentences for common use, and general sentences, etc. to convert Kanji. CONSTITUTION:A keyboard is provided with a Kana input key group 14', a control key group 5, and a level designating switch SW6, and the mode is switched to an education sentence mode 6a, a common use sentence mode 6b, and a general sentence mode 6c by the switch SW6. A signal from a key group is supplied to an encoding circuit 10, and a corresponding encoded signal is generated from the circuit 10 and is inputted to a controlling circuit 12 through a buffer 11. The circuit 12 sends Kana characters from the circuit 11 to a Kana-Kanji conversion processing circuit 14 in accordance with indications of the key group 5 and the switch SW6, and the circuit 14 retrieves a dictionary 15 to convert Kana characters to a sentence with Kanji and Kana mixed. Each word of the dictionary 15 consists of a word length part 31, a Kana index part 32, a Kanji declaration part 33, and a level declaration part 34, and the circuit 14 displays the sentence suitable for the level, which is designated by the switch SW6, on a display 17 through the circuit 12 and a buffer 16. |
