<p>The system is for handling items with a sticky surface, and comprises walls forming the mechanical support for the items, covered with a very flexible skin offering virtually no resistance to movement perpendicular to its surface. The skin can be of material such as not to react chemically or physically with the products handled, being pref. a plastic elastomer such as polyester, polyethylene or rubber, or fine woven metal, glass fibre or plastic. The handling operation can include application of a vacuum, the skin material being porous or permeable to air.</p> |
