The sailboard drive allows propulsion independently of wind conditions. It comprises a propeller at the stern, actuated by two or more handles attached to ropes on the port and starboard sides. The user pulls on the handles alternately. The ropes can be reeved round pulleys at the bow, the user facing in the direction in which he or she is travelling. They can form a continuous loop, attached at the stern to opposite ends of a bar hinging on a vertical axis and actuating the propeller.
|
