The heater has a valve (12) controlling the amount of cold air supplied to the mixing space for combining with the heated air surrounding the heat storage core. The valve setting is determined by a pair of bimetallic elements (13,15) which act directly on the valve closure element (12) at their free ends. The two bimetallic elements (13,15) lie parallel to one another and are held apart by spacers (16) carried by the surface of one of the elements (13,15). Both elements pref. have identical lengths. The heater allows all the stored heat to be dissipated in as short a time as possible with the max air flow maintained for as long as possible during heat dissipation.
