<p>The appts. comprises a battery powered electric motor driving a tool carrier which accepts rotary polishing tools of the type used in dental surgery. The unit is housed in a self-contained portable enclosure, permitting use in any location. The electric motor (2) is powered from a battery (1) or from a mains supply transformed and rectified to suit the 3 Volt, 3 Watt motor used. The motor speed is of the order of 11000 RPM. The electrical components are protected from moisture by the use of sealing rings (3) in the enclosure. The polishing tools are mfd. from a rubber material impregnated with abrasive particles, or from a rubber material holding an abrasive paste.</p> |
