1,059,240. Automatic circuit-breakers. AIRPAX ELECTRONICS Inc. Dec. 10. 1964 [June 25, 1964], No. 50236/64. Heading H2B. [Also in Division F2] A toggle mechanism comprises a first lever (26) pivotally and slidably mounted (at 30) on a frame; a second lever (40) pivotally mounted (at 42) on the frame and-third and fourth levers (50, 46) pivoted respectively (at 52, 48) to the first and second levers and (at 54) to one another, the third and fourth .levers normally being latched to prevent relative pivotal movement by a pin (60) carried by the third lever engaging with a forked member (56) pivoted (at 58) to the fourth lever and itself prevented from relative movement by a shaft (62) mounted in the fourth lever (46). In an automatic circuitbreaker, the first lever (26) forms the moving contact arm and the second lever (40) isoperable by a dolly (6) to open or close the contacts (22, 24). Upon overload an electromagnet (74) attracts an armature (72), an extension (82) thereof striking a pin (66) to rotate the shaft (62) against a biasing spring (78) to release the forked member (56) and thus to break the toggle and permit the contacts to open under a biasing spring (36). |
