PURPOSE:To enable the detection of the end of a printing medium irrespective of the position of binding holes of a printing medium such as slips by providing time monitoring means at the output side of a sensor and discriminating the vertical holes and the rear edge of the slip. CONSTITUTION:A sensor S detects one end of binding holes H at the time t1, thereby varying the level of a detecting signal B from ''0'' to ''1'', and the sensor S detects the other end of the hole H at the time t2 elapsed for the moving time t, and the level of the detection signal B is returned to ''0''. A flip-flop 5 is set by the rise signal of the detection signal B obtained at the time t1, and a timer 3 is started. The timer 3 produces an output signal C at the time t3 after the elapse of the time T, where t<<T. When the rear edge of the slip is detected, no fall signal is produced at the detection signal B. Accordingly, the flip-flop 5 is not reset, and a flip-flop 7 is set by the output signal C, and a paper end signal G is fed to an exhaust mechanism. |
