A fusible conductor for a fuse device, in particular for a semiconductor fuse, comprises a plurality of fibres composed of nobler metal in at least one narrow region. Its regions outside said narrow region contain parts composed of baser metal. In order to be able to produce such a fusible conductor relatively simply and cheaply, with only a relatively small proportion of the nobler metal being necessary, the invention provides for the fusible conductor (16) to contain continuous fibres (4 to 9) composed of the nobler metal and for its regions (17) outside the at least one narrow region (18) to be formed from a fibrous composite material containing the fibres (4 to 9) and a matrix (3) surrounding the fibres (4 to 9) and composed of the at least one baser metal. Advantageously, the matrix (3) composed of the baser metal of this fusible conductor (16), which may be, in particular, in strip form, can be surrounded in a form-fitting manner by a cladding (10) of a scale-resistant material. <IMAGE>
