A vehicle which can be used in two opposite directions of travel has two couplable brake pedals (1, 2; 1a, 2a) for each direction of travel (7, 8), which serve for steering braking. Each brake pedal (1, 2; 1a, 2a) has a lever arm (11, 12; 11a, 12a). The lever arms (11, 11a; 12, 12a) of each side of the vehicle each bear a pin (13, 13a; 14, 14a), by which they engage in slots (15, 15a; 16, 16a) of their common rail (17, 18). Each rail (17, 18) is articulated on the piston rod (19, 20) of the master brake cylinder (9, 10) assigned to the respective side of the vehicle. With decoupled brake pedals for one direction of travel, steering braking can be undertaken with them at any time, without having to pay heed to the coupling state or any hindering of movement of the brake pedals for the other direction of travel. <IMAGE>
