In an electrophoresis deodorising device, a container section (12) for receiving a carrier medium (3), a container section for an absorbent (13) and a blower (14) are arranged so as to deodorise the carrier medium which has an irritant smell due to the decalin used to render the carrier medium transparent. The decalin vapour responsible for the irritant smell does not therefore escape from the deodorising device into the room and the latter consequently remains clean. The carrier medium, which is wetted with the liquid, is furthermore dried in the container without contaminating the ambient air. <IMAGE>
