The invention relates to a metal transporting drum for the coiling of all types of cables, strips and ropes, especially in the cable industry. The drum is manufactured by the rolling method. It has special devices (locks), which permit and facilitate faster assembly and dismantling. Type A: welded construction, type B: assembly- dismantling construction with special closures. Advantages of both types: the sides are manufactured in a single operation. The storage space is small. Special closures permit rapid assembly and dismantling of the drums. Increased static and dynamic load carrying capacity of the drums.
