The invention relates to a laundry drier, especially for living spaces, such as kitchens and the like, having a drum container which is arranged in a housing and in which the laundry is exposed to a hot-air stream which is extracted from the environment of the drier and heated and which, after the drying treatment, is discharged again into the environment of the drier, the incoming air before and the outcoming air after the drying treatment being conveyed by way of a common heat exchanger for the preheating of the fresh incoming air and for condensing the essential moisture out of the outgoing air. In such a laundry drier, an optimum drying performance and, in particular, as low a discharge of moisture with the outgoing air as possible into the installation space are to be achieved in that, in addition to the stream of drying air, a special stream of cooling air is guided through the housing of the laundry drier.
