A loom drive includes a driving clutch and a braking clutch whose control cams are coupled together so that one clutch is engaged when the other is disengaged. The cams are operated by turning an eccentric from one dead-centre to the other, the rotation being effected by an auxiliary motor and being limited by stops to half a revolution; the motor operates the eccentric through a clutch consisting of a nut running on a thread on the motor shaft, the nut being screwed into contact with the eccentric by its own inertia when the motor starts. The normally stationary half of the braking clutch is integral with a worm wheel meshing with a worm on the motor shaft whereby, if the motor continues running after the loom has been declutched and the brake engaged, transmits drive through the braking clutch to turn the loom backwards.
|
