In the production of press-ready photopolymeric printing plates, the nonprinting back and the printing front are exposed to an equal amount of light per unit surface area over the entire surface with a negative film being interposed. After the curing process, a uniform plate thickness is achieved which makes very fine half-tone printing possible without unevenness occurring in the image to be reproduced.
