PURPOSE:To display pictures having excellent reliability with respect to a device for displaying pictures of good quality with high image resolution by heating the plural points of a liquid layer to generate foam in the respective heated parts and forming plural picture elements thereby assembling these picture elements. CONSTITUTION:For example, row conductors 22-2 and line conductors 23-3 are selected, and when voltage is applied to both of these conductors, electricity is conducted to a part to a resistance layer 21 corresponding to the intersecting parts 24 of both, by which said layer is heated and foam is generated. In other words, it is possible to generate foam by heating the plural intersecting parts of the optional lines and rows simultaneously. Observing light 7 arrives at the observing eye 6 by producing a difference in optical path, that is, a difference in the quantity of light between the case in which said light passes through the foam and the case in which the light does not pass through the foam in the stage when said light passes through a transparent protecting film 5 and a thin liquid layer 2. Thus, plual picture elements are formed according to the foam, and pictures of good quality are formed by assembling these. |
