For honing cylindrical bores, use is made of a tool which has a sleeve-shaped outer body (2, 3), in the bore (5) of which a spindle (10) is mounted. The outer body has a central part provided with axially running slots (4), while, in this region, the spindle (10) has expansion cams on which honing stones (8) mounted in the slots (4) are supported. The honing stones have end-side protrusions (9) which are pressed by leaf springs (15) fastened in the outer body. For the mutual displacement of the outer body and of the spindle (10), an axial slot (20) is made in the spindle (10) and an oblique slot (22) is made in the outer body; a pin (23) is pushed through the two slots. <IMAGE>
