PURPOSE:To measure with high accuracy by making the area of an electrode constant, by providing an electrically insulating layer at the outer surface of a solid electrolyte element except the fixed area of a part corresponding to the electrode and by providing the electrode at the part where the electrically insulating layer is excepted. CONSTITUTION:A solid electrolyte element 1 is closed at its one end and its other end is formed in an opening cup shape. A thin film-shaped porous electrode 2 is provided up to an annular seat part 1b at the inner surface of this element and an electrode 3 in the same way is formed at a part of the outer surface on a closing end side of the element 1. The electrode 3 is formed by such a way that a part corresponding to the electrode 3 is masked and an insulating layer 4 is provided by plasma-spraying a heat-resistant and insulating metallic oxide, and then the masking is removed and platinum, etc. are coated over all the outer surface of the layer 4. Furthermore, a gas diffusion resisting layer 6 is formed on the electrode 3. By using a detector of oxygen constituted by such a way, the area of an outer electrode is controlled with high accuracy, and therefore it is possible to detect without causing measuring error. |
