PURPOSE:To save the time necessary for the movement of a power meter and to perform real-time measurement by fitting a total reflection mirror receptacle to an output terminal and measuring optical fiber loss from its reflected light. CONSTITUTION:Light emitted from a standard light source 1 is guided to an optical connector 7 through a dummy fiber 2 and an optical directional coupler 6. This light is reflected by a total reflection mirror receptacle 8 to measure the standard light P0. Then, the light is guided to a laid optical fiber cable 5 through the optical connector 7 and a receptacle 4 and reflected by a total reflection mirror receptacle 8 at its exit terminal to measure current reflected power P2. At this time, section optical fiber loss L is obtained from L=(P0- P2)/2dBm. |
