The heat exchanger with a cylindrical chamber (8) which is formed by a heating wall (2) is surrounded by a chamber (3). Forced convection of the heating or cooling medium (4) in the chamber (3) is achieved in a particularly simple way by filling the chamber (3) with profiles (6) made from plastic material which are wound in a helical fashion. Moreover, the limbs (7) of the profiles which bear against the outer wall (5) form an additional thermal insulation against the outside. <IMAGE>
