PURPOSE:To speed up the diagram recognizing process and minimize a recognizing circuit in size, by calculating in advance a point string constituting a diagram element to be approximated, and by judging an error between the point string and that to be recognized. CONSTITUTION:The value of a single-value function f(xn) is stored in a register 4 from a register 2. The value of another single-value function g(xn) is calculated at a simultaneously calculating circuit 3 and the value is stored in a register 5. A calculation¦f(xn)-g(xn)¦is executed by an operation circuit 6 and the result is represented by epsilon. The value epsilon is compared with a threshold E stored in a register 8 by a comparator 7. The comparator 7 judges the result of the comparison, and, if epsilon<=E, informs a controlling circuit 1 of the result. Upon receiving the information, the circuit 1 repeats the above mentioned control on the next point n+1. When the circuit 7 judges that epsilon>E, it judges that a point row F cannot be approximated by a point string G. When all the calculations on (n) pieces are completed at the circuit 3 and the above mentioned operations are completed, it is judges that the point string F can be approximated by the point string G. |
