PURPOSE:To obtain a rewritable optical disk which prevents a position shift of stored bits and obtains accurate readout timing, by arranging separation walls between tracks formed of liquid-crystal cells. CONSTITUTION:In a substrate 1 made of plastics, metal, ceramics, etc., liquid- crystal cells 2 each for storing one bit by a phase shift by heat are arranged in grooves notched in the substrate 1 to form tracks. Those cells 2 are formed of the substrate. They are separated by bulkheads 3 and separation walls 3' in the tracks; the walls 3 are used for servo signal generation and the walls 3 are used for timing signal generation. This constitution prevents a bit position shift, and this rewritable optical disk obtains accurate readout timing. |
