<p>PURPOSE:To discriminate a tape speed without using a control signal by providing a part which is not parallel to the widthwise direction of tracks, and recording pilot signals which are different in recording interval between adjacent tracks according to the tape speed. CONSTITUTION:As a tape speed decreases, widths TW3-TW5 narrow down successively; a video signal is recorded on tracks at position to be blank periods so that it is not aligned in the trackwidth direction, and low-frequency pilot signals P5-P3 are recorded lengthwise at different recording intervals of 1.5H, 1.0H, 0.5H, etc., according to the tape speed. Consequently, the tape speed of reproduction is discriminated without using any control signal. Further, those pilot signals are used for head height adjustment.</p> |
