PURPOSE:To manufacture a color filter having finely patterned colored layers by patternwise exposing each coloring layer contg. silver halide and an image dye providing substance having a positive type function. CONSTITUTION:A support is coated with the 1st emulsion layer contg. a silver halide emulsion and the 1st image dye providing substance having a positive type function represented by one of the formulas, and the layer is patternwise exposed for the 1st color. By developing the silver halide, the pattern is formed, and the part of the emulsion layer where the silver halide is not developed is removed with warm water or the like. The 1st layer is then coated with the 2nd emulsion layer contg. a silver halide emulsion and the 2nd image dye providing substance having a positive type function, and the 2nd layer is similarly processed. |
