PURPOSE:To enable a ventilation at a desired pollution level by a method wherein when the air conditioner is in normal operational condition, clean atmosphere level is detected from time to time, and the pollution level at which the air should be ventilated is automatically set. CONSTITUTION:A pollution level sensor 5 is provided in the air conditioner. The sensor 5 detects the pollution level of the air in a room and provides an electrical signal which changes in accordance with the pollution degree of the room air. When the sensor 5 provides a certain level of electrical signal, the air conditioner performs a ventilation. In more detail, in the air conditioner with automatic ventilating function, the relationship between the pollution level to be ventilated and the clean atmosphere level is stored in a RAM3, and when the air conditioner is in normal operation, the clean atmosphere level is detected by the sensor 5 from time to time. The pollution level to be ventilated is automatically set from the detected clean atmosphere level. If the pollution level of the room air reaches the preset pollution level to be ventilated or exceeds the level, the air conditioner opens a ventilation damper 10 through which the room air is ventilated. |
