PURPOSE:To inhibit an increase in the transmission loss of an optical fiber core which is coated rapidly and inexpensively, by using ultraviolet-curing acrylic resin as a material for primary coating, forming a buffer layer of silicone rubber, and carrying out secondary coating. CONSTITUTION:An acrylic resin composition consisting of 100pts.wt. epoxy acrylate and 2pts.wt. ultraviolet-curing agent is applied to an optical fiber core obtd. by heating and drawing a base material for an optical fiber, and it is cured under irradiated ultraviolet rays to carry out primary coating. The resulting primary coating layer of cured acrylic resin is coated with silicone rubber by means of an extruder to form a buffer layer. By further carrying out secondary coating with polyester elastomer, a flexible optical fiber is obtd. Thus, the adhesion of the interface between the primary layer and the buffer layer and the adhesion of the interface between the buffer layer and the secondary layer are improved, and an optical fiber core with remarkably reduced loss is obtd. |
