PURPOSE:To relieve burden of a transfer head as well as speed up printing by a method in which a rotary roller is shaped into an annular hollow form, a magnetic body to be applied AC magnetic field is provided in the hollow, and a transfer medium is preheated by heat generated in the rotary roller. CONSTITUTION:A rotary platen 1 is provided with a magnetic body 4 set in a conductive cylinder (metal roller) 2 whose periphery is covered with an elastic member 3, having an annular hollow form, rotatably supported by a supporter 7 to fix the magnetic body 4 inside. The magnetic poles 5 are arranged in the face of a transfer head. When AC magnetic field is applied to the magnetic body 4 by a wiring 6, heat is produced in the section facing the transfer head 10 of the metal roller 2 due to the variation in magnetic flux between the magnetic poles 5, a transfer paper in contact with the platen 1 is heated, and the transfer medium is preheated through the transfer paper. The heating temperature is controlled by controlling the intensity of AC magnetic field to be applied to the magnetic body 4. |
