Antibiotic SB-72310(I) was prepd. by cultivation of pseudomonas mesoacidophila SB-72310. Thus, P. mesoacidophila SB-72310(ATCC 31433) was precultured on a broth(pH 7) of glucose 1, polypeptone 0.5, meat ext. 0.5 and NaCl 0.5% for 48hr at 28≦̸C, then cultured on 120l broth of sucrose 1.5, yeast ext. 0.3, (NH4)2SO4 0.2, KH2PO4 0.6, MgSO4 0.05 and NaCl 0.05% for 78hr at 28≦̸C with 120l/min aeration. The broth was purified by chromatog. over Dowex-1(Cl), active C and DEAE Sephadex A-25 to give 3.8 g I. Antibacterial data of I are given against 13 bacteria. IR spectra of I and I Na salt are given.
