The process uses wedging to fix the head of a pipe in a gasket (65) in a plate (44) opening (31), being used to fabricate a car radiator. The head (43) has an enlarged cylindrical form, stepping down to form a neck (41), and again stepping down via a taper (42) to join the pipe body. The head diameter is approximately equal to that of the hole and assembly entails first threading the gasket onto the pipe beneath the neck. The gasket takes the form of sleeves (47) projecting from a sheet, the next operation entailing threading the pipe into the hole until the sleeve is located. The gasket is immobilised by a comb shaped implement and the pipe is withdrawn, the sleeve being compressed between the neck and the sides of the hole whilst a stop lip (57) houses onto the top edge.
|
