<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a small-sized and easy-to-handle watertight optical fiber connector by engaging and fixing two plugs which couple with optical fiber cables, and sealing the gap of only an underwater-side PLUG. CONSTITUTION:A couple of plugs 8 and 8a are fitted to a receptacle 4 tightly and detachably while aligned in coaxial abutment relation from the underwater side and the inside of a watertight container 1. An O ring 12 accommodated in an annular groove 11 is interposed between the flange part 7 of the underwater- side plug 8 and the upper end surface of the receptacle 4, and the flange part 7 is pressed against the receptacle 4 in a watertight state by a cylindrical metallic fixture 13. The other plug 8a inside of the container 1 is pressed against the plug 8 by a cylindrical metallic fixture 13a and a compression coiled spring 14. Thus, only the triffle gap of the underwater-side plug is sealed to obtain a small- sized and easy-to-handle watertight optical fiber connector.</p> |
