PURPOSE:To obtain a high tensile steel wire rod for pressed concrete for which uniform elongation is assured by cooling the wire rod after hot rolling forcibly while holding the same in a linear state, and coiling the same at the coil diameter of the specified tensile stress on the surface of the outside circumference. CONSTITUTION:While a wire rod after hot rolling is held in a linear state, the wire rod is cooled forcibly, and is coiled to a bar-in coil of such a coil diameter at which the tensile stress on the outside circumferential surface of the wire rod attains value smaller than the proportional limit. Or said wire rod is cooled forcibly, is hardened directly and is coiled under the similar conditions. While the coil is un-coiled, a tempering treatment is applied thereto and the wire rod is coiled again or is cut to a prescribed length. According to such method, uniform elongation is assured, and the high tensile wire rod for pressed concrete having other mechanical properties roughly equivalent to those of conventional steel wire rods is obtained. |
