PURPOSE:To cool quick cooling rolls under high speed revolution efficiently and to maintain the same always at low temp. by immersing the lower parts of said rolls into the refrigerant in refrigerant immersing tanks and spraying the refrigerant on the surfaces of the side parts of the rolls having upward peripheral speeds. CONSTITUTION:In a producing device for thin metallic strips, refrigerant immersing tanks 8, 9 are installed in the lower part of quick cooling rolls 1, 2, and a refrigerant 10 such as liquid nitrogen is filled thereon. The level of the refrigerant is maintained at about the level at which the lower parts of the rolls 1, 2 are immersed therein. Further, local refrigerant sprays 11, 12 are provided on the side parts of the rolls 1, 2 on the sides having upward peripheral velocities to spray the refrigerant onto the surfaces of the rolls 1, 2, thereby cooling the rolls locally. The refrigerant sprayed onto the surfaces of the rolls 1, 2 and gasified is induced by the peripheral velocities of the roll surfaces and is guided toward a well 6, where the same forms a gaseous shield. With such cooling device, the seizure of a thin metallic strip 7 on the surfaces of the rolls 1, 2 is prevented and the stripping thereof from the roll surfaces is easy. |
