The present invention relates to a device, with the aid of which unnecessary energy losses, in particular in heating or air-conditioning installations, preferably in living or business premises, administration buildings or parts thereof (individual rooms) can effectively be avoided. Since the energy requirement, in particular for the production of heat or cold in rooms used by people is greater than in those not used by people, energy (in particular heating or cooling energy) can be saved in that, in all the rooms not used at the time by people, this energy supply is reduced or interrupted by a "presence-dependent or absence-dependent control". Thus, in the absence of people, the temperature difference between (used) rooms and environment can in fact be reduced, which leads to a smaller heat flow between room and environment and consequently to the desired energy saving.
