A system exposes large-area photopolymeric printing plates, in particular for printing newspapers, with the aid of a plurality of exposure devices which are each equipped with a row of parallel UV fluorescent lamps as light source underneath a copying frame. Situated in the copying frame is a format-filling glass plate on which the negative image carrier with the printing plate on top of it can be placed for the exposure operation. Two similar exposure devices are mechanically interconnected and arranged side by side, and arranged between the exposure devices (1, 2) for the presensitization of the photopolymeric printing plate is a holding device for receiving the printing plates in a vertical plane and at a defined distance from at least one light source.
