Electronically controlled, electromagnetic bell stroke

An electromagnetic bell stroke, having a bounce-free stroke, a high striking repetition rate and continuous volume control. This is achieved by the electromagnetic force acting directly on the striker, it being possible to fix precisely the switch-on duration of the magnet which is required to overcome the inertia and to accelerate the striker towards the bell via a control device, by means of a variable timer. Suitable timing selection ensures the level of freedom of the striker, selects the striking energy in accordance with the desired volume and achieves a high striking repetition rate by dispensing with mechanical force transmission and strike limitation, and makes mechanical adjustment superfluous. This striking method is used mainly in musical chimes.
