Process and device for feeding yarn to the stitch forming system of a knitting machine

The process and the device are used in circular knitting machines for the production of piece goods or knitted fabrics. Turns (B) are formed from a yarn (A) and loop round a yarn-feed drum (3), interacting with a driving belt (2), and a bar (4) mounted overhung. At least part of the turns have a possibility of storing themselves both under the belt (2) and outside the latter. During the time when the yarn turns remain outside the belt (2), the yarn tension is reduced by bringing these yarn turns into contact with an additional yarn-feed drum (5) which rotates at a speed higher than the speed of the main yarn-feed drum (3). This makes it possible to check either the yarn tension or the yarn-feed speed at a predetermined moment during the knitting of a product. <IMAGE>
